Around the globe, Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians and their friends gathered in remembrance of the victims of genocide during the Nazi and Soviet occupations of their homelands. In Canada, almost every family with Baltic roots has a story of suffering and loss.
In the Baltic States, the deportations began in 1941 and were followed by ever greater round ups and ethnic cleansing in years to come.
