Friendly Invitation (Draudzīgais aicinājums)
Latvians have a unique tradition of "Draudzīgais Aicinājums" or Friendly Invitation. It was started in 1935 by Latvia's former President Kārlis Ulmanis who gave his books to his childhood school and urged citizens to do the same. Since 1994, that tradition has continued in Latvia, and the Education and Kultural Fund continues the tradition to support Latvian schools in Canada by giving books and donating to the schools funds. Please support Latvian schools by donating to the LNFC Educational and Cultural Foundation.
